Recap July 21, 2012 Cluster 23 Meeting

                                                                                                     Pat Helms

The July 21st meeting of Cluster 23 was held at the home of Pat Helms at 1 p.m.  Six members were present.

After some discussion, the members decided to have a recap of the Cluster meetings e-mailed to all members.  It was felt this would be a unifying way to update all members and keep everyone in the loop of events and decisions made at the Cluster meetings.

There was discussion concerning the Janesville communities’ upcoming Labor Day Parade.  Members voiced hopefulness that area members would support the teaching effort by walking in the parade.  Concern was expressed that the weather would be cooperative and not be a 100’s degree day.  A member recalled walking in last year’s parade and that found it to be an enjoyable and rewarding teaching opportunity.  The suggestion was made that more diversity be encouraged for those walking in the parade.  Encouragement was made to personally invite other community members to share in this teaching effort.  It was announced that there would be a picnic at Heussner’s home at 461 Wilson following the parade.  Helene Graumann will be the contact person for the parade at 608–290-2896, her cell.

Discussion was held on the request to change the Cluster meeting day to a week day or evening during the summer months as schedules are very busy.  Discussion was lively and one point made was that only one meeting time would be effected, the summer meeting.  Discussion resulted in the members deciding that the host of the Cluster meeting would determine the time and day of the meeting.

There was discussion on the flyer presented to the Beloit and Janesville communities currently posted in the Afton store and post office.  The suggestion was made to include the national web site on the flyer.  The suggestion was made that flyers could be posted in other communities within Rock County, Footville, Orfordville, etc.  Members were encouraged to post flyers if the opportunity arises.  Any posting within Rock County must have the approval of the governing LSA’s phone number, if used.

Discussion and shared experiences on individual teaching efforts and goals were shared.

The next cluster meeting will be October 27, 2012, Saturday, 1 – 3 p.m. at Leslie Rennie’s home, 1849 Strong Avenue, Beloit, 365-7879.

The meeting concluded with light refreshments.  As a participant of the meeting, I noted a feeling of unity present throughout the meeting.
